fire

(in me)

By Sara Published 2 years ago 1 min read

i want the kind

of love

that keeps you up

in the night -

not the one

that puts you to sleep

so you can dream.

i want the kind

of love

that starts a fire

that burns in you

until you get burned -

not the one

that warms you

like morning brew

never scalding your tongue.

i want the kind

of passion

that will die

in a beautiful mess

of tears and gun powder

and smeared lipstick

and spilled whiskey

and the shards of glass

and my heart

on the ground.

i want everything

that consumes me

so i do not have

to be

any longer.

This is great, I love how you demonstrate both possibilities for yourself, and the choices you make.

I echo Brenton's thoughts. You've outdid yourself again. This is like some strange passionate mutually assured destruction description. So evocative and that image, damn! Well bloody done, Sara!

I don't know who picks the Top Stories but this has to be a contender. This is so brilliantly sad and invigorating, I can feel the passionate destruction
