Finish Your Race

Never Give Up

By Dan R FowlerPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Finish Your Race

Life with its amber glow at dusk,

Is something that all should see, it’s a must.

Dying embers of daylight’s domain,

Handing over the world’s grandeur to proclaim.

It’s on this small blue planet we all live,

Some sharing grace and mercy, there’s plenty to give.

But here among us, those who want to move forward,

Is a faction of control preventing some to go onward.

“Stay where you are!” it’s often commanded,

“You’ll never succeed and your hopes will be disbanded.”

The calls continue ringing out both day and night,

Causing some to faint and fall turning away from fright.

“You’ll never make it!” a voice shouts out,

Causing many to falter, many to doubt.

Yet, deep within some, a few precious souls,

Lives persistence and dedication or that’s what I’m told.

I see them ever so often, those wanting to be more,

Many don’t understand the passage or how to keep score.

“You must cheer for yourself and encourage your heart.”

Shouts someone in front of them who’s almost finished their part.

Run your race with patience, the great gift from above,

Give of yourself to yourself and those that you love.

For to listen to the naysayers who’ve fallen away,

Is to take advice from failures in the road where they lay.
