They think that I’m alone
They ask “How do you fare?
You’ve lived for so long by yourself
No other human there.
“How do you pass the day
So many hours to fill?
Does errant noise cause you to fear?
What happens if you’re ill?”
Their words spring from concern
From worry for my health
But far from lonely are my days,
Of friends I have a wealth.
Their barks have kept me safe
The best of company,
The horses nicker my approach
My donkey brays to me.
No life would I prefer, it seems
Society does pall
I count them singly and by name
My friends, they’re with me all.

Lovely poem
good one
I know very few human who are as good a friend as you describe your horses, donkey and dogs... well done.
This is lovely. Well done..
Well written ✍️🏆
Love how this shows that company comes in all forms—even furry ones! It’s a reminder that a bunch of animal buddies can be the best companions, keeping things safe, fun, and full of life. Solitude? Nah, just lots of good company!
