Finding Home
And making memories
I woke up this morning
feeling tired of life.
My family in shambles
causing bickering and strife.
But I glanced out the window,
and what did I see?
The first snow had fallen
and sparkling were the tree's.
The ornaments across the yard,
the shepherds and manger,
brought me back home again
no longer a stranger.
I walked out the front door
coffee in hand,
inhaling the sweet crisp air
of this now winter wonderland.🌨
There was a small girl
making her angel in the snow.
She laughed and she giggles,
and little does she know…
Big brothers sneaking up
with a ball made of snow. ❄️
Taking me back to a child,
oh how fast we do grow.
She jumped up and ran
screaming with glee.
She started to hide
as he counted one, two, three…
He rounded the corner,
and there she stood
with a ball of her own,
he didn't think she would.
But she did indeed,
a snowball right to the head.
He laughed out loud
saying let's make a snowman instead! ☃️
I couldn't keep watching,
I had to go to work.
Pulling out of my driveway,
I saw the children lurk.
That night I drove home slow,
adoring the twinkle of colorful light
I pulled up to my house,
And gasped, because to my surprise
There was a snowman in my yard
who wasn't built by me.
The children peeked out through their window,
such a beautiful little family.
He had kisses for eyes,
and raisins for a smile.
A card in his mittens
that said “Haven't seen you in a while.”
A note from my mom,
stained now with a tear from my eye.
It wasn't the little children who made this
and I started to cry.
I called up my mom,
and my little brother too.
The next night we got together
and started making memories anew.

Simply beautiful!! Well done!
Very well done.
Wow, this was very well written. You caught me with the first few lines, then as I continue to read, I got swept into a lovely story from the perspective of watching from a far. The way you ended it made me very much aware of myself wanting to cry, your poem is so sweet. 👏👌🤗♥️
