Finally Home

At long last

By Sara West-GibbsPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

When was the last time

You felt like yourself for the first time -

When you realize that all you've been searching for, working towards

on the outside

Has been desperately waiting to be discovered by you - breathing, hiding, living

on the inside

You set out on this journey to uncover all of life's mysteries -

Who you are; and who you'll be

Twisted up, tainted, torn up and distorted by

everyone else's viewpoints, opinions and beliefs

You soldier through the years unpacking, and deconstructing

all the layers of that which wasn't yours to begin with -

diligently discarding everything

that is not your truth

returning once again, to the purest state of mind

that was your youth

And then it seems -

almost out of nowhere, you come to recognize

that you are

exactly

who you've always been

Unashamed, unafraid, untapped power

waiting to be claimed

So paradoxically you step boldly out on your own -

after what feels like an eternity

finally able to be completely free...

embodying

unconditionally, internally

your present, future, past

unapologetically

owning your whole damn self -

You are my sweet... at long last,

finally home
