Final Curtain

A stacked senryu poem

By Andrew C McDonaldPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

Thought I was your star

Now I know I was merely

A small bit player

In a larger cast

With you as romantic lead

Me.. the wronged spouse

There was a rewrite

My star role was supplanted

By a newcomer

Now a new rewrite

The spurned lover vows revenge

Her role.. dead body

She plays the role well

Lying there in crimson pool

Stunt knife switched for real

Standing ovation

Delivered by the viewer

Audience of one

The stage lights are out

Final curtain has been drawn

Our parts have been played

My next audition

Murderer sentenced to life

Pose for the camera
