Family, food, and faith were the things closest to her heart
Italian she was in both nationality and colourful personality
Love was her dominant quality, something she never failed to impart
Open-hearted and open-housed always, the queen of generosity
Matriarch or Nonna, she perfectly embodied that role and part
Empty bellies at her home were never even a slight possibility
Nothing was ever too much, large quantities of food were just the start
Always she will be loved, remembered, and dearly missed for eternity

Originally I was going to be posting another entry to the Full Moon Challenge as my post for the 5th day of the year, but my plans were changed. Fortunately, I still had this - my first attempt at an acrostic poem, using the name of my late and great Nonna, Filomena, to whom it is dedicated. So, I managed to stick to my original plan of a "post a day", after all.
If you enjoyed this poem, please subscribe, heart it, or even leave a comment. All interactions are welcome, appreciated, and encouraged.
