Fight the Darkness

Poem, inspiration, mumblings!

once the darkness starts to rise in me,

there is no stopping the onslaught

when all positivity and hope are replaced,

with the neverending shadow

it can feel like there is no way out,

there is no way to escape the fog

the smog that keeps you weighed down,

the grease and tar that coats you

sink or swim, fight or give in,

sink or swim, fight or give in

the options run through your mind,

when you're losing all hope

it's easier to throw that towel in,

to give up the fight and leave the ring

*

once the darkness starts to rise,

though,

you can start fighting against it

even when the battle is lost,

the war can still be won -

fight for the light

smog in time can clear,

when pollution is reduced

and fresh air introduced

It takes effort, yes, but is worth it.

wallowing loses its novelty quickly

get outside, into the light,

show the dark,

you know what it wants

but

it will never get you

not fully, if you fight it

refresh yourself

and wash the grease and tar off your weary body

never give up and give in,

the battle may be lost,

but the war you can win

*

Thanks for reading!

The battle may be lost, but the war you can win.

When I played Battlefront 2, they would say that when you'd lose. “We may have lost this battle, but the war is still on” That never left me. ❤️ fight the good fight
