Another poem about a spider.

I won't kill you for your poison and I won't smash you

Until you are but twitching legs and confused regret

Wondering somewhere in between the neurons

Was the blue mountain, shimmering in the sun

A wicked thing, insurmountable, after all?

.

No, I will coax you into a glass airplane and fly you

To your own private little moon, far from the dangers

Dangling like traps, corrupted safe havens in my room.

.

I will watch your small body tremble and then run,

Slip, slide, and fall to the bottom of the jar while I panic

At the death frightened in the palm of my hand.

One wrong breath, one wrong move, one wrong thought

And either one of our jaws will close around the other.

.

Ending it, the pretty understanding we've agreed on,

Will take us both out so the stalemate rumbles between us

Like the trembling song of a fiddle crying out its warning.

I won't if you won't, so please, for the both of us just don't.

Settle, settle wary heart and let the hands do the work.

About the Creator

Silver Daux

Shadowed souls, cursed magic, poetry that tangles itself in your soul and yanks out the ugly darkness from within. Maybe there's something broken in me, but it's in you too.

You have captured such a relatable (horrifying) experience in this but in the most exquisite way possible! Absolutely loved, "No, I will coax you into a glass airplane and fly you To your own private little moon, far from the dangers"

Your poem is so relatable! I can't remember how many times I felt exactly the same while a spider was floating out of my window. Most people I know don't care about spiders enough to think they deserve anything but a quick squash.

This was heart stilling, SD!! At first I thought this was another sympathy to spiders piece, with the way you described taking the thing in your hands and brining it to safety. But then I realized it was a metaphor, possibly for a broken heart that simply needs time to heal!! Just beautiful!!

A classic Silver Daux, splendid and harrowing - Creeps under the skin and settles in there. Loved it.

Wow! Fantastic poem. So, spiders are amazing and so is your writing! ❤️

Beautifully written with a soft clarity, never has an arachnid catch and release been so elegantly portrayed! (I feel really bad now cause I just got one earlier with the hoover!)
