Feeling Untenable

Forgettable

and

regrettable;

those feelings

untenable.

To be the former

or latter--

such a punch to the gut.

To be lost in the crowd;

not a purebred,

just a mutt.

A rock in a shoe,

arrow out of the blue.

Nuisance abuzz

in this somber revue.

Just a dot or a speck

in the vast unknown.

Talent and potential,

that bird's now flown.

Too late to redeem,

can't undo or erase.

Stumble and trip

falling back into place.

No change of fates

today or tomorrow,

so best to find comfort

in tears and your sorrow.

Though all you long for

is to be worth remembering,

with insecurities and

shortcomings finally dismembering.

For forgiveness and peace,

on the mend toward release.

With no more self loathing

of the wolf in sheep's clothing.

To be strong and pretty,

better than the doubters

with no need for pity.

Capable, smart, and

the triple time of a waltz.

Far from perfect,

but judged on more than your faults.

And there, lovingly handed

a flowery heart

to be bound and branded.

Instead,

inadequate, common,

nothing much there to note.

And now as you

confess that deep darkness and fear,

I see that maybe

you won't be

Memorable

and

measurable.

Those feelings

quite tenable.

They're simply not for you.
