This is for Poppy’s #10 prompt and Mikeydred’s Octerberon Challenge.

“We are the masters of our fates and the captains of our souls…” Not all the time, it seems.

There are times when the paths we chart for ourselves go askew, and it doesn’t seem as if we are in control of things. But at the end of it all, we must have faith in ourselves.

In twilight’s grip, I tread the road,

Pulled forward by a ghostly hand,

Before me treads ascending fear.

Fear now guides my shaky steps,

As I’ve veered from the destined road,

But all I hear is her faint whisper.

I try to move, but still that call

Drives me on, scratching out the fear,

Pulling me forward down the road.

The road is fear and whisper.

I loved how you used fear to move forward. Well done!

The road should be bright and the whisper should be divine. Destiny should carve new pages of bliss... A very emotive poem that exudes a character that plays comfortably with words...
