Faraway Places

The candle flickers in the corner

The fire dances in the hearth

As you settle underneath the blankets

A long winter's night awaits

Your eyes grow heavy in the warmth

And soon you surrender to your dreams

Of faraway places and hallowed halls

Gilded in gold and precious jewels

The diamond on your hand

Catches your eye as you swish your dress in awe

Meandering into the grand ballroom

You waltz in the shadows of the prince’s gaze

Give in to your desires

The passion that melts your heart

When the moon fades behind the clouds

You'll stand breathlessly wanting more

But reality will beckon you from this fairytale

As the sun graces the morning sky
