Family
An extended metaphorical poem about family and its connections...

Family is like a set of wind chimes,
People like the individual music-makers.
When one is affected by something horrible,
All the rest are forced to move,
Forced to be connected by the wire of life and blood.
They are individual, yes, but
They are connected.
People are fragile like the figures of glass
Made to be clinked together like wine goblets at a dinner table.
But when they are apart, the family is strained;
Like the wire that grows taut
From the strain of feuds.
Until finally...
It breaks and the family falls and shatters.
However, when someone is loving and kind
And comes and helps when needed,
They may help that family come together;
And together they will grow and they will heal
Then, as one, they will make glorious music
And lead the way back home.
Back to their family dinners and parties,
Back to their loving embraces…
And back to the family that they were meant to be.

Writing has always been a passion of mine. I've been writing since I was around 7 or 8 years old, where I would write down silly little stories on long car rides or help my dad brainstorm ideas for his soon-to-be book.
