My roots twist and intertwined with loved ones

The weight of family often feels like a ton

Nourishing me even when I try to run

My roots spreading across the world like the sun

I always swore to never stay long enough for my roots to find common ground

I traveled the world round and round

Only to see my branches wilt and become bound

Love only ever made my roots feel drowned

Yet every person I met forced my roots to intertwine

To survive i needed some sun to shine

Dreaming of one day becoming a beautiful pine

A home to let my roots be free, something to call mine

Little did I know i was surviving on the roots of others

Nourished by my mother and my brothers

I was a sapling who thought himself and elder tree

No more than a simple pea

A mere begging flea

Dreaming to be free
