A Sonnet

There are minds that will misread this image

As a puerile euphemism made real

I would argue that here is a meaning

Waiting for better reading to reveal

https://extension.entm.purdue.edu/publichealth/insects/flea.html

Witchcraft and felines practically rhyme

Plagues were spread by the bites of nasty fleas

Who riding rats and mice spent their brief time

And from these rodent fonts drank vile disease

https://howtokeepmyhousecleanfrompest.blogspot.com/2016/03/rat-infestation-fact-sheet.html

Which they shared liberally with humans

Except for those guarded by feline friends

Which helps, in truth, brightly to illumine

How a "witch" on her cat for health depends

Feeding your cat kept you from being food

For disease vectors, voracious and rude

Sonnet

"Feeding your cat kept you from being food" Lol, that line made me think that if we didn't feed the cat, we'd become the cat's food. Loved your poem!

What a cool concept and commentary on cats’ contributions at a critical time! Sorry for the alliteration! It just started and I couldn’t stop!
