Falling

For my love. Thank you for reminding me how to hope.

I’ve always had a fear of falling.

The air rushing past,

The ground reaching up,

Gravity dragging you down,

faster and faster.

That feeling of complete hopelessness.

But then, I saw you.

Though for years on end

We’ve known one another,

Our eyes met, and

It felt like the first time,

The first time I was seeing you,

The first time you were seeing me.

At that moment I knew,

It was you, always you.

I know now,

I could travel the world,

Searching,

But no one will ever see me

ever know me as you do,

And I wouldn’t want them to.

I no longer fear falling.

The air rushing past,

The ground reaching up,

Gravity dragging me down,

faster and faster.

That feeling of complete freedom.

So long as it means falling

in love

with you.
