Fallen but Fruitful

Ode to the Unbroken

It has fallen down,

Lying still on the ground,

Waiting till breath no longer sounds,

Waiting till no one is around.

With eyes that won’t shut,

With a mind that won’t rut,

With a gut that won't give up.

Survival mode: ON,

With fiery ambition,

Uprooted but never gone,

Always ready to fight on!

Not all who stand are strong,

So why must the fallen be lost for long?

For we are not wrong,

Keep singing the faith song.

Continue where we are,

Be graceful, be of use, like the papaya,

Nurturing the earth, feeding the hungry,

Fallen but fruitful, forever in memory.
