I mean, we’re all just faking it
We fake smile when we’re asked if everything’s okay
Because it’s easier to hide pain than show it
We fake laugh when we’re distraught
Because it’s easier to look crazy than stay composed
We fake fume when we’re confronted
Because it’s easier to act tough than face our actions’ consequences
We fake sympathize when we’re listening to our friends’ issues
Because it’s easier to feel for everybody else but ourselves
We fake read when we’re idle
Because it’s easier to step into other people’s minds than live in our own
We fake manage on our own even when it’s more than we can handle
Because it’s easier to accept failure than confess defeat
We fake enjoy the highs and the shots
Because it’s easier to zone out than be present in our mediocrity
We fake get into relationships when we’re lonely
Because it’s easier to explain being unhappy than being unloved
We fake live when we’re dreaming
Because it’s easier to exist with our eyes closed
I mean, we’re all just faking it
