This I Know

I have faith

I know this because it's shaken

That couldn't happen if it didn't exist.

_

I have faith

because today I got out of bed and that cup of

coffee burned my mouth letting me know I am alive.

_

I have faith

because the fear and heartache that wakes me in the night

though still there in the morning- the sun returns.

_

I have faith

because I question everything yet

still walk on knowing we aren't alone.

_

I have faith

though I lack total knowledge, I'm relieved

because a God that I understand would be too small.

_

I have faith

our actions are willing choices of good or evil yet still we

walk among each other on our journey home in merciful time to change.

_

I have faith

as turmoil swirling gives rise to terror and panicked confusion

I cry for help and my heart knows it's heard.

-

I have faith

Sure that it's real: hope persistent without perception

Bending grace across the void and into my spirit.

-

I have faith

because when hope is slim and love is conditional

faith lights a candle to welcome them home.

well written and well said truly love this, Ms Judey

  • This was so beautiful and emotional. Loved your poem!

  • Well & faithfully said, my friend. My favorite line: "because a God that I understand would be too small." Though the way you end it: "I have faith because when hope is slim and love is conditional faith lights a candle to welcome them home." comes about as close as anything can to it.

Judey I really enjoy reading this, the walls we build that may hold us back, but we break them down knowing we can carry on.

Good job as long as we faith in ourselves and others at least a few that is all that is needed.
