Dear Moon,

The only B

I ever received

was a test

on your

phases

see I can

wax

and I can

wane

but I cannot discern

the gibbous

on your

frame

it's

only

new

half

full

my eternal

pessimist

refrain

is there a man

up there

or are your features

fooling

ghosting

girls

who

windowstill

wait

wishing on

stars

to save us

stardom

is an invitation

for the light

to shine

to stare

to gawk

to say

picture or it didn't happen

and maybe that

picture

is a fake

I think

you're

a

she

a conspiracy

theory

do you think the world

revolves

around

you?

I

do.

did you

beg your

parents

to let you

stay out late

let your last love

linger

was it a fight

or flight

when men stepped on you

and left their trash

for show

did you ask them to

come

on

back

tramp

a little

harder

before you

go

are you

a crescent

'cause you're

curled up

crying in the corner

and if Mother Earth

could wrap her arms around you

would she say

baby,

it's just a phase?

I don't really expect an

answer

I'll just sit here and

wait

but from one

girl

to another

could you shed

some light

that would

be

great

nature poetry
