Faded, but Never Gone

by Mel

By 'Lissa StufflestreetPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

it's been ten years,

almost.

wow.

I cannot believe that

it's already been that long

since I saw you last,

since I last heard your voice,

since I last held you in an embrace.

ten years since

I got to see your face,

the way your eyes crinkled

when you smiled,

the way your chest would puff out

whenever you'd laugh.

God,

I miss that.

I would give anything

just to be able to

see those all over again.

I would give anything

just to be able to hug you

once more.

Ten years.

I cannot believe

I've made it this long

without you;

I never even saw me

making it one year

without you by my side.

I seriously believed I'd

have joined you by now.

But here I am,

fighting every second

to make it to the top,

for you;

to make you proud.

God,

I hope you're proud of me.
