Fad 2 Be Sad

2020 Blues

By Izra RudolfoPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

Do you hear that? It zoomed right by us

The bus to get to work

Not only does it rain every week but my boots have holes, I'm soaked

I'm a pupil at the school of Hard Knocks

I'm a hustler with cheat codes

It's a rat race with the elite in 1st

A treadmill life syndrome

It's a fad to be sad

Are we really sad?

Don't you know that you mold us that way?

Another cigarette

It's crisp and cherry red

Don't you know we fake it that way?

The system you're familiar with now is designed to keep you down

I was six when 9/11 occured and the end had already begun

I had a jar full of silver linings and it was stolen without a sound

Golden shields guard my heart ever since

Lodged deep in my psyche, sold as sugar coated anxiety

Pick your poison, most food is now poison

The water is flinty and your words don't hold water

You're neglecting your daughters, our planet gets hotter

Population gets fatter, oh it don't even matter because

It's my fault that I'm sad

It's my fault I'm my dad

It's my fault that I'm mad

I'm not mad, you're mad

I'm not sad, it's a fad

It's a fad now, I'm rad

It's a fad to be sad

Now it's okay to be sad?

Fuck it.

Are we really sad?

Don't you know you mold us that way?

Another cigarette

It's crisp and cherry red

Don't you know we fake it that way?

You know what's truly sad?

We care when it's too late

12,000 cigarettes

Where'd all my money went?

You compete to complain

It's a fad to be sad

Are we really sad?
