FACES OF WINTER

A poem written on 23.12.2024

By Celious BlancPublished about a year ago 2 min read

The faces of winter whisper gently in the breeze,

As spaciousness opens in the empty void, left behind from times when I could not speak my truth,

For fear of being banished from the lands I coexisted within.

Now, words fill my throat and escape my mouth with gust,

Like the winds that collect leaves in their path.

Escapism was once my go-to

Now, it is complete presence with everything,

Basking in the uncertainty that comes with each breath, the ticking time bomb that thumps in my chest, the prickling of the hairs under my nose that I feel with each exhale…

The excitement that floods my heart and my belly when I stare into someone's eyes and see complete knowing; understanding, connection.

I see the shadows of light reflected in my eyes, aimed in opposition to the nightmares that used to paralyse me,

But which I can now accept with a tender heart and hold close to me,

As everything and everyone simply seeks to love and be loved.

Hold on tight to this rollercoaster of life. It will send you in spirals and twists and turns and give you whiplash when the breaks are halted.

But it will also bring you laughter, joy, excitement and ecstatic energy beyond your wildest imagination, if you let it.

Embrace the unknown, and forge your own path. Forage for the most precious gems along your way, and cherish the warmth that comes with being close to another.

In these times, we must learn to look each other in the eye and know that we are looking at ourselves. We must learn that the interconnectedness of this web we are navigating is what ultimately will bring us closer to truth, to oneness, to prolonging our very existence.

Out of the jugular of this cacophony of chaos that permeates the shell of our planet and cracks in lightening-shaped stripes at the seams, must come a sprouting of new hope, of new leaves & branches, of new flickers of light.

Radiate through the cracks in your soul and you will feel whole, and you will only inspire from the reflection you project.
