Face Values

a poem inspired by pop culture

By Solomon WalkerPublished about a year ago 1 min read
face values by Solomon

We judge a book by its cover,

And a person by their face,

But what lies beneath the surface,

Is often hard to trace.

We see a smile and assume,

That everything is fine,

But behind that grin may hide,

A world of pain and strife.

We see a frown and think,

That someone’s in a bad mood,

But maybe they’re just tired,

Or feeling misunderstood.

We make assumptions based on looks,

And often get it wrong,

For what we see is just a glimpse,

Of a person’s life-long song.

So let’s not judge by face values,

Or make assumptions based on looks,

For what lies beneath the surface,

Is often worth more than it took.

This is so true , even though its very complicated, judging a book by its cover in some scenario that is clear and apparent, like seeing a half dressed lady and contemplating if she's a slut or seeing a armed robber with mask and be friendly with him ,because you don't wanna judge a book by its cover ,that may be risky. But judging people by their reaction, facial expressions, mood , then we may be judging them wrong
