Expectations of Womanhood

I feel the weight of my physical form like a boulder pressing down on my shoulders,
Expectations of how I am supposed to be,
Based on how others perceive me.
The ropes that should connect my body to the version of me that lies within,
Cut and frayed on both sides,
Yet people will see me with these ropes as tied,
They see me as a woman,
Cis through and through.
But I am not a woman,
Merely a person that hides behind the veils of femininity,
Disguising the truth that lies beneath,
Hidden from the world around me,
Desperate to break free.
