Why am I here?
It’s simple enough to distill such thoughts
into a Sartrian debate
But presently I prefer
to pass on such human interactions
Hell is other people after all
Because such cognition requires prerequisites
requires certain answers
Namely,
why am I here?
Physically
In this room
Whose threshold I passed
moments before
I fluttered forward
like moths forth to flame
but what siren drew me here
I can no longer name
In an empty room I stand and pray,
the existential thoughts remain at bay
Let empty thoughts occupy my head
and I’ll go pet my dog instead

Loved the juxtaposition of heavy questions with their dismissal to pet the dog
Yesss pet the dog instead, and enjoy life!
I ask myself that existential question all the time. And I have three dogs....I'll have a run with them instead. Great advice, Matthew!
From a serious deep inner feelings to a perky, smile with that final line. Seriousness of the world fades away when you have a pet.
That was perfect! And I think we could be saved from a lot of theory if there were more dogs around to pet!
