everybody lies at funerals

an inner monologue

By Stephanie HiltonPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

everybody lies at funerals

when somebody dies, it's usual

they'll stand up and say how much they cared

but deep down, you know they weren't there.

they didn't come around when my mother was alive

they had the nerve to come say goodbye

and i have to sit there with tears in my eyes,

as my heart screams, "the way you lie!"

they deserve to grieve in their way, i know

but if they really cared, they should have shown.

sad poetry
