“Eventually”
At certain times I dream of rest
Maybe riding in a car
Being with you is never hard
I like to spend my days on a quest
Or maybe we could go,
Stop n’ see the local nook
Play some chess or read a book
We can go and enjoy the town
Go around and make no sound
Maybe gain a pound n’ dance around
In the morn’ grab some chai
Try a look or stay for par
Catch a fish down at Del Mar
Hop a bar and grab a car
Let’s travel far and see it all
Help us heal our inner scars
Resting essentially,
I just hope it’s not far for eventually

AUGUST 1976
I was listening to some reaction videos on the internet the other day when I "re-discovered" one of THE greatest and uniquely American songs I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. I forgot that Arlo Guthrie comes from a sturdy stock of great folklorists-namely his father Woody Guthrie. I associate Arlo with "Alice's Restaurant", so much so that I forgot he is an exceptional storyteller in his own right.
