Hindering High Hopes

Dear those who wish for my success,

Let me be

Dear those who only want the best,

Let me breath

High hopes

And dated expectations

Chain me

Tether me to the very spot

You so desperately want me to flee

How can I succeed?

When I am only told what I am missing

What I am lacking

When you add to the obstacles

Needed to overcome

How can I move forward?

With words of degredation pushing me back?

Let me live

Breathe a breath outside these constraints

Give me time

Give me patience

Give me the love-

The compassion I so desire

Not the wanting

The waiting

The expectations

That plague me

Invading my sense of self

Until finally forming the belief

That -

Like you seem to believe -

It will never be enough

And I will never be enough

Sincerely, Chasing Worth
