Oh, boundless sea, your
waters so pure and clear
Your gentle waves caress
the shore with tender care
Your mysterious charm
a siren's alluring call
Beckoning me to dive
into your watery thrall

Your kindness, a balm
to the weary soul,
Your nobility, a beacon
that helps us reach our goal
Your depths, a sanctuary
where secrets lie untold
A world of wonder and
mystery, yet to unfold
~
The rising tides, a rhythm
that echoes through the years
Carrying the weight of joys
and sorrows, laughter, and tears
Your endless expanse, a canvas
for nature's grand design
Where sunlight dances
and moonbeams softly shine
~
In your timeless embrace
I find solace and respite
From the cares of the world
a tranquil, calming site
Your whispers, a soothing song
that soothes my restless mind
As I drift upon your waves
my worries left behind
~
Yet, beneath your serene surface
a power untamed
A force of nature, both revered
and oft times blamed
Your storms, a display
of nature's raw, unbridled might
Reminding us of our own
insignificance in the endless fight
~
Oh, sea, how I love your purity
your charm so divine
Your kindness and nobility
a reflection of the Divine
Your depths, a mystery
that calls to the human heart
A testament to the wonders
that life can impart
~
In your eternal dance
I find a sense of peace
A connection to the rhythms
that can never cease
For in your embrace
I find a sense of belonging
A timeless bond that keeps
my spirit ever-longing
~
So, I'll continue to bask
in your soothing embrace
Letting your waters wash away
my worries and trace
The path to the understanding
of life's ebb and flow
Guided by the sea's eternal
magnificent glow

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
