Escape from the City of Shadows

C1

By James GreenPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

I had a dream so strange and wild

It seemed to come from another world

A world of confusion, fear, and doubt

Where nothing made sense, and all was in doubt

I found myself in a city of shadows

Where the streets were dark and the buildings were tall

I walked for miles, but could not find my way

Lost in the maze of the city's decay

And then I saw him, a man in a suit

His face was cold and his eyes were cruel

He told me I was in trouble, that I had to flee

For they were coming, the ones he called "the beasts"

I ran and ran, my heart in my throat

But no matter how fast I went, they seemed to close in

They were everywhere, in every alley and street

Their snarling and growling echoed through the night

I was so scared, I thought I would die

But then I saw her, a woman in white

She took my hand and led me away

From the city of shadows, to a brighter day

We walked for hours, until we reached the shore

The water was calm and the sky was clear

She told me to trust her, and so I did

And together we sailed away, into the great unknown

That was my dream, so strange and surreal

But in the end, it gave me hope and renewal

For even in the darkest of times, there is always a way

To find the light and escape the fray
