The Colors of You, Me & We

Dear Ego I asked

What makes me unique?

Show me a color with emotion that speaks.

Show me how colors can help me to see,

How others in this world can understand me.

Ego replied with a color of green.

Green is envy that’s what it means.

They are jealous of all you have and do.

They will take what is yours,

They will laugh at you!

But Ego when I see the color of green,

I feel something so safe,

Not at all mean.

I see a beautiful tree,

Over time it has grown,

I see a gift from Mother Earth,

I feel I am home!

I see green’s beauty in every living thing,

I feel it’s connection to all human beings!

What about Blue?

Ego replied.

Blue is so sad it will lead you to cry.

If you only be you and not like the others,

You will become depressed and will only suffer!

No dear Ego, I feel blue is so calm.

A safe color for me to feel safe in the storm.

I feel like the ocean,

I can be connected to all,

Or a single drop,

Be myself and stand tall.

Blue also represents an infinite sky,

I can do anything if I only try!

Ego thought while scratching its head.

Then after a moment it knowingly said,

The color of yellow means you better slow down,

It means to be sorry,

You caused others to frown!

No my Ego, let me explain,

Yellow means there is sunshine after the rain!

Smiles, laughing and happiness it gives,

Yellow is a color that reminds us to live!

"RED" yelled Ego!

It is the worst of all!

It means stop!

It means anger!

It means you’re no fun at all!

Oh Ego you are certainly misled,

The color I feel the most is red!

It means passion!

It means life!

It is the color of all blood!

It is a wonderful feeling,

It is the color of love!

Don’t worry Ego,

Come take my hand,

We can be a rainbow,

United we stand.

There is no color,

That is better or worse,

By being them all,

We accept,

Together,

We are unique and diverse!
