A poem about death

By Dawn Olderr-MontalvoPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I come into being on a cool morn

before the sun’s heat causes temperatures to rise.

It’s a cotton candy morning,

pink and blue puffs bundled for your enjoyment,

suspended on hopes and broken dreams

A beautiful day awaits, colorful in all its splendor

I long to snatch a bit of its sweetness and feel it melting on my tongue.

But I know then it will be gone, so I wait and watch the sun take its place

living for today

Anticipating the pleasure

when I am finally able to savor the ecstasy everlasting

that I have waited so long to

ENJOY!
