End of a Wedding Night

SILENCE Poem is based on the feeling of getting in my car at the end of a wedding night.

Soft stillness settles from the hum that lingers in my mind,

Isolation sits in the car with me as I begin to drive,

Love and loneliness find a place to combine,

Ending a night, The adrenalin fall from feeling so alive,

Noting all the moments that lead to their I do's until I die,

Creating scenarios, where a Groom could be mine,

Escaping the commotion to drive home alone in silence, at the end of a wedding night.

You convey such a feeling of loneliness and maybe regret that permeates your poem. It is both lovely and haunting in its intensity.
