Enclosed in Memory
For Real Poetic's Anniversary Acrostic Challenge
Anchorite: that's what I've become,
Nestled in the confinement of my
Nostalgia. I am not a stylite atop a tower,
Impressive heights grappled for and
Valiantly reached. Instead, I huddle,
Eating and drinking the sustenance garnered from
Remembrances my brain allows me, alms
Set aside for my days of sorrow when the
Arid present makes me long for the past, for
Regret-fueling respite. Yet I stay,
Yearning for vaporous memories added year by year.
