Imagine, you’re staring through…
An empty glass,
Clear as crystal…
This perfect cylinder,
Is meant to be filled with potential…
And you know-
It’s there within you,
But you’re feeling nervous…
Don’t overthink this,
Just start with something simple…
You pour in,
Being a nice person-
Down to earth,
And—
Well….
You pick the word,
We’ll do this in thirds,
So what’s next?…
You have to be brave,
In this cold world,
So, you pour in some courage—
Respect,
And you’ve heard the saying…
You live and you learn,
You pour in critical thinking…
And we won’t forget,
All the superficial shit—
Things we all yearn to be,
Yet, we all disagree with…
Pour in being beautiful,
Pour in being handsome,
Pour in how you’re strong,
But the glass cracks—
Due to weakness…
Because Internally…
You’re fighting the urge to be…
More like what everyone else wants,
Cause the things you love about you,
You think everyone else don’t…
So…
Instead of looking within,
You turn to family and friends,
Other Women and Men…
You overly pour in trusting,
Because you think—
They’d never do anything to hurt me…
You pour in unconditional love,
You’ll make that jump,
Even if you’ll crash…
It’s sad…
But you pour in forgiveness,
You pour in commitment…
And with every pour from outside,
That crystal glass,
Is riddled with cracks…
Yet—
They pour in how you’re fat,
All the qualities lacked,
But to you—
Everything is fine…
You pour in optimism,
You want to handle problems-
One at a time,
You pour in perseverance…
You believe,
Happiness takes time,
You pour in patience,
You’re okay with waiting…
Okay, now—
You pour brilliance,
You pour in affection,
You pour in being genuine…
They pour in,
That you’re too loud,
Guys can’t be too short-
Girls can’t be too tall-
Actually…
They pour in thoughts,
Where-
Girls liking girls,
Boys liking boys,
Is wrong…
They pour in poor decision making,
These words are coming full circle,
They pour in easily manipulated…
Because you still believe they’ll never hurt you…
Look at the glass,
It’s still holding on,
But now…
It’s half full,
So you’re cautious,
Try to help in any way,
Even when exhausted,
Yet-
They pour in how you’re a burden,
Even if it’s subtle hints—
They pour in how you’re an embarrassment,
They pour in how you’re negligent…
But you remembered,
To pour in loving,
Maybe you should add more,
Subconsciously,
Pouring in anxiety,
They will only love you better,
If you do more…
So—
You let them pour in lack of boundaries,
Who really needs those?
They pour in craving for attention,
They pour in you being submissive,
You crave for their attention—
Even though they’re dismissive…
They pour in obsession,
They pour in addiction,
You attempt to pour,
But you’re no longer sure—
Who you want to be…
Staring into a glass,
You can no longer see through…
As everything seeps through,
Now, you’re battling daily,
Questioning-
Are you even worth it?
Because—
How can you still suck,
When they’ve molded you perfect…
You pour in ambition,
You pour in active listening,
You pour in the vow,
To be forever giving…
You pour in compassion,
You pour in being thoughtful,
You’ll do even when not asked to…
You pour in a sense of humor,
They pour in,
That you’re a loser,
They pour insecurity,
You pour in your sense of loyalty…
You pour in being selfless,
They pour in that you’re helpless,
Now…
You feel like—
No matter how much you pour,
They will always find more…
Flaws—
Cause when you pour in supportive,
They pour in annoying…
Have you realized,
How quickly your cup starts overflowing?
And how the things that once made you whole,
No longer show…
Looking in the mirror,
Staring at a ghost…
It’s strange—
As this cup overfills,
What will you save from the spill?…
Will you blow a new glass?
Make it stronger than steel…
Can you find inner strength?
When you lack the will…
At this moment…
Have you realized how easily,
Inner Beauty,
Loses all its appeal?
Leaving you jaded and shielded…
Sweep up the shattered glass,
Pour in resilience-
Determination…
And rebuild
Be the person you wish to be, not the person that’s expected by everyone else
