Empathy

with the wind

Blustery winds,

buffeting and blowing,

stinging eyes with frigid air,

a taste of nature's strength.

-

A taste evokes feeling

the wind is woeful for me,

so how bad it must be,

for those in Storm's eye.

-

Why is it we only care,

or elicit understanding

when subjected personally

to experiences shared.

-

The story of Empathy

is a confounding tale,

a Gordian Knot

hard to unravel.

-

A trait we declare

to our impressionable youth,

is a must have

that all should develop.

-

Yet when it comes to practice

the words that we preached,

Empathy is hoarded

for the deserving few.

-

Empathy is Empathy

not to pick and choose,

it costs You nothing

to care for the struggle.

-

We as a collective

seem to be confused,

everyone is against us

So why should We care?
