Into the Light

The sage moss gently sways from host branches

The waxen magnolia leaves refract an amber light

The heady perfume from alabaster blossoms intoxicates

Meandering through the winding trails

Accosted by every shade of green

The brilliant and the pale

I begin to breathe again

Shafts of golden sunlight filter through the canopy of greens

A sliver of cerulean sea and azure sky

Are visible at the end of the jade tunnel

I take slow deep breaths

Soft ivory sand greets me

Diamonds float on the emerald sea

White sails on the horizon allude to contentment

My shoulders relax

I sit on the shore

Lace foam washes gently upon the champagne beach

As I perch on the edge of the solid and the yielding

my spirit finds peace in the solid

About the Creator

Melissa Faircloth

Immersion in nature while voraciously consuming fantastical fiction has created a mind where butterflies bring tidings and trees whisper ancient secrets to one another as they murmur and sway in the ancient breeze.
