In the shadows, where I stand alone
A place I’ve known since I was young
I watched them turn and choose another
Yet never felt the warmth of being chosen.
A friend who drifts to brighter lights
Leaving me to linger in the quiet night
I used to think this was the deepest pain
But now I see, it’s just a passing rain.
It's okay to walk a path alone
To carry a heart that’s only my own
In solitude, I find a gentle grace
A quiet strength, a familiar face.
I tried to fit where I didn’t belong
A smile that masked the internal wrong
But now I know, it’s better to be true
To the mess, the flaws, the real, the you.
I may not belong in their crowded room
But in my space, I bloom and bloom
It’s okay to be the one they pass
For I am whole, even as an outcast.
One day, I’ll embrace it all
The silent nights, the echoing halls
I’ll stand tall on this fragile ground
With peace in the solitude I’ve found.
So here’s to those who dine alone
Who find comfort in the unknown
We may be walking on the thinnest ice
But in this journey, we’ll find our light.
