As I reminisce upon the past,
It seems like only yesterday,
I once believed I loved the dark,
But light became my needed way.
A chill, it crept into my bones,
Slowly, yet with certain hold,
I craved a brightness so intense,
It might have left my sight a fold.
I searched and searched but found in vain,
I knew that I was truly lost,
Defenseless, then I gave in,
I yielded to the tempest's cost.
The dark it lured me in its grasp,
Hypnotic, with its subtle charm,
I tried to run, but could not flee,
For it had wrapped me in its arm.
I longed to forget, yet I recall,
The grip of night, its fierce embrace,
Though I wished to flee its thrall,
I knew it's something I can't erase.
