Elephant Essence
This is a dedicated piece to show appreciation for elephants; always felt drawn to them. I would say it's my spirit animal.
The largest land animal in the word,
Lifespan of up to 70 years, if in the wild.
Spiritually you represent a piece of me and I know that sounds wild.
But since a child, I felt the energy you had compiled.
It's like I recognised someone familiar that made me smile.
Communication through vibrations is your preferred style,
It's different to how humans feel things,
A deeper definition attached to feelings.
Just like how you're thick skinned, removing negativity whilst providing healing.
A light that can't be dimmed;
From culture to spiritual practices, your being provides meaning.
You are seen as symbolism for long life, wisdom and prosperity;
Let's not forget your power and vitality.
I'm sure there are many more attributes used universally.
All I know is the elephant was heaven-sent,
Because of everything you represent with your presence.

My New Book is Finally Here
My poetry collection Beautiful and Brutal Things is done. It's actually done and finally published over 270 pages. Over a year of my life went into this book. More than a year, really. Long days at my computer, sometimes seven days a week because I couldn't stop even when I probably should have. Then two months of editing that felt harder than the writing itself. But it's finished, and I'm still standing, and the book is real.
