Elements of My Life

Quadru-Haiku

Our love is substance.

Sands shift, mountains fall … We make

our own gravity.

* * * *

My children are change.

Ice to steam to stream, flowing

around unseen bends.

* * * *

Good art is freedom.

A cage door opens, and thoughts

with wings rise and roam.

* * * *

Writing is passion.

Words erupt!—With searing tongs,

shape them to hold truth.

The framework for this poem is indebted to an interpretation of the four elements in "Avatar: The Last Airbender" (a show I have never watched, but which a friend taught me to appreciate).

Here's another four-part haiku I'd like to share with you:

About the Creator

Sonia Heidi Unruh

I love: my husband and children; all who claim me as family or friend; the first bite of chocolate; the last blue before sunset; solving puzzles; stroking cats; finding myself by writing; losing myself in reading; the Creator who is love.
