Elegy for Hawaii

Flames of Loss and Unity's Resilience

By Jansen ChangPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Amidst Hawaii's isles so fair,

A tragedy unfolds, a mournful air,

Where flames did dance, with vicious glee,

Taking lives, leaving hearts to plea.

In nature's arms, a paradise lost,

Where ocean meets fire, a tempest tossed,

A blaze unquenched, a relentless foe,

Leaving tears to fall, like rivers that flow.

The golden sunsets, once so bright,

Now shadowed by sorrow, a somber sight,

A land of beauty, with skies so blue,

Now shrouded in grief, as tears anew.

Oh, souls that soared, like birds on high,

Now taken too soon, leaving empty sky,

Innocence claimed, by flames untamed,

Leaving hearts heavy, forever pained.

Through smoke and ash, courage did rise,

Communities united, defying the skies,

In loss, a bond, a strength anew,

Amidst the devastation, a love that grew.

Let us remember those who fell,

Their stories within us, forever dwell,

And as we rebuild, amidst the pain,

May Hawaii's spirit, like phoenix, rise again.

Nature's fury, a reminder stark,

To cherish each moment, to light the dark,

In the heart of tragedy, we find our grace,

And in unity's embrace, we'll find our place.
