When my father got angry
The top of his bald head turned red
Gunmetal blue eyes bulged behind glasses
His rage,
Combined with his short steps,
Knee lifting walk,
Feet splayed as he trod
And the flip of grey
At the back of his otherwise
Bald head—
I muttered, calling him
El Pato Rabiando
The Raging Duck
I’m not proud of this
Today, justice was served,
I was walking quickly across campus
Caught my moving reflection
In a mirrored window,
Lifting my knees
Higher than normal
As I took rapid, short steps
Feet splayed every time I stepped
Gunmetal blue eyes
Grey hair flipping up
The top of my bald head red
Looking just like him
I wondered
What kind of pato would he call me?
