The beauty of the cherry blossom is in its softness,

Delicate, light, a sign of spring,

Fragile it is to the strong wind.

Make not your faith a Cherry Blossom,

But let your ego mirror its being.

The beauty of the evergreen is in its strength,

Awake, strong, a sign of immortality,

Resilient it is to the changing of seasons.

Make not your ego an evergreen,

But let faith mirror its being.

Note: Our egos tend to have us react in ways that serves our self-interests first and foremost. Ego is not to be hated though, it is a part of who we are, our first protectors of self. However, as we grow, most of the time, our egos take control and we fall into thinking that we are our egos.

It is nice to sit back sometimes and appreciate what our egos do for us without reacting to its every whim. Self-reflection is the first step if we are to build ourselves up and ennoble our characters. Our higher selves are already with us, waiting for us to have our faith in it to pull us out of our psychic prisons.
