Eclipse

A passing impact

By Ellen StedfeldPublished 2 years ago 1 min read
the hazy view between clouds, leaves, and lenses

Everlasting darkness, for just a day, unless you stare too closely,

Come outside in bespeckled crowds to gawk absently at the eerie sky,

Lenses make it all the more obvious that we are watching a cosmic show,

It must be now, or you will miss it for another cycle, of too many years,

Perceived through deeply darkened frames and shadows within boxes,

Stories of where you were and want to, may, must, and ultimately will be,

Everyone talking of only this, until, within hours, this epic occasion inevitably passes into yesterday's news, survived safely, and slips away.
