Echos of a Goodbye

I sit here under the whispering trees,

Where our laughter used to dance on the breeze.

Shadows stretch long, like the time that we lost,

Counting the moments, weighed down by the cost.

These echoes of a goodbye hang heavy in the air,

A melody of memories that linger everywhere.

I played my heart out, gave you every note,

But sometimes love just drifts like a boat.

We carved our names in the bark of the night,

Hoping the world would feel our light.

But the stars turned to strangers, the moon said goodbye,

And we both learned how to smile through the lies.

These echoes of goodbye, they won’t fade away,

A haunting refrain in the songs I play.

I strummed on your heart, left it hanging in tune,

Now I'm chasing shadows beneath a broken moon.

Maybe it’s just the way the seasons fall,

A graceful retreat, a silence that calls.

But the chords we created still pulse in my veins,

A bittersweet symphony, love lost in the rain.

So here’s to the journey, the highs and the lows,

To the pain that still lingers, where the river flows.

I'll play on this guitar, let the echoes set me free,

Even in goodbye, there’s a part of you with me.
