Echoes of You
Losing someone cuts like a razor blade
In the quiet spaces of my heart,
your laughter lingers,
a haunting melody that dances
through the shadows of my days.
I reach for you in the silence,
but find only the weight of absence,
a heavy cloak draped over my shoulders.
Each corner of this home whispers your name,
remnants of moments we shared—
the way your eyes sparkled with mischief,
the warmth of your hand in mine,
the comfort of your voice,
a soothing balm to my restless soul.
Now, the world feels muted,
colors dulled by grief’s relentless grip.
I wander through memories like a ghost,
tracing the outlines of your smile,
each memory a fragile thread,
woven into the fabric of my being.
I remember the way you held me close,
as if you could shield me from storms,
and now I stand alone in this tempest,
the winds howling with unanswered questions.
Why did you have to go?
Why did time steal you away?
The nights stretch endlessly before me,
filled with echoes of our conversations—
words left unspoken now hang heavy in the air.
I search for solace in dreams, but even there,
you slip through my fingers like sand,
leaving me grasping at shadows.
Every heartbeat is a reminder of what was lost,
a cruel metronome marking time without you.
I find myself caught between worlds—
the one where you exist and the one where I remain,
and I am forever altered by this fracture.
Yet amidst the ache, I carry you with me—
in every tear that falls like rain,
in every laugh that breaks through the sorrow.
You are woven into my story, a thread of light
that guides me through the darkest nights.
So I will honor you in the spaces between breaths,
in the quiet moments when I feel your presence.
I will hold onto love as fiercely as I can,
knowing that while you may be gone from sight,
you will forever echo in my heart.
