A silence echoes in the mind
Yet, it's deafening sound, so unkind
The emptiness consumes the soul
And leaves one far from feeling whole
The memories of times gone by
Seem to linger and never die
The moments lost and love unfound
Seem to haunt the mind without a sound
The loneliness is a heavy weight
A burden hard to contemplate
The mind a prisoner of its own
With no escape from being
