"Echoes of Longing: Voices from the Old Age Home"

"The Heartache of Empty Halls and Unseen Faces"

By Lily💜 Published 2 years ago 1 min read

In silent halls where shadows linger long,

The elders sit, remembering days now gone.

With wrinkled hands and eyes that tell a tale,

Of love and loss, their hearts begin to wail.

They speak in whispers, voices soft and frail,

Of children grown, and memories that pale.

Their laughter echoes in the empty air,

Yet none return to show they truly care.

In dreams they walk through gardens once so green,

Where laughter bloomed and happiness was seen.

But waking brings a solitude so deep,

As silent tears, for vanished joys, they weep.

They watch the door, in hope it might swing wide,

To see the faces of their cherished pride.

Yet days turn into weeks, and months to years,

The silence thickens, amplifying fears.

A letter, call, or visit hoped and missed,

Each absence felt like a cruel twist.

Their love remains, unwavering, undimmed,

A beacon bright though eyes have grown so dimmed.

Oh children dear, remember those who wait,

For love’s sweet touch, before it is too late.

In old age homes, their hearts are full of pain,

Reach out, before the tears fall once again.
